Nouns ending in -um are almost always das.

German does not build these — the words arrived whole.The words came from Latin.

One exception

der Reichtum and der Irrtum carry -tum, a different ending — a German one, which is normally das as well (das Eigentum, das Wachstum). der Konsum came in from Italian.
